How to become a patron of Gideonslight art

"Sunny days" Day 1 WWCM

I invite you to take a look at my digital art galary that contains a collection of over 30 artworks that I  have created over the last four months. As some of you know, the month of July is World Watercolour Mont... and of course I participated!
World Watercolor Month was founded as a charitable event supporting art education.
Please make a child’s dream come true by donating to The Dreaming Zebra Foundation!
If you would like to learn more please visit the official website here:

I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of the 31 day painting marathon, and although I was not able do complete all 31 prompts, I was able to do most. This was a huge learning curve for me, and the journey revealed a lot to me about my skill as an artist as well as rekindled my love for the medium of watercolour. One thing is for sure... I have discovered my favourite medium. Watercolour and I speak the same language!

I would like to thank each individual who has encouraged and supported me thus far on my art journey. Many of you are wondering why I  am developing this talent now in my life. As most of you only know me as Gideon the hairdresser. Art has always been a personal value of mine, and due to the winding roads of life, I  have never had the opportunity and finance to take the time to develop my art skills. Ever since I  left school it was my desire to study art, but unfortunately that door never opened for me. Until now!

But my current life make-over started a few years ago already, when I  reached a stage in my career where I didn't feel the joy anymore in what I was doing every day. I cannot begin to tell you how many times in my 30 odd year hairdressing career I wanted to leave it all behind, but it was both my saving grace financially, as well as the limitation to achieving my bigger dreams.

Up until now all I  had time for, was my hairdressing career. But ever since I  started on the journey of my own business last year,  I  realised that the time has arrived in my life to develop and explore the things that I have always had to put on the "to do list" of my life. I guess it is something that comes with reaching the age I have,  when all I did before now, was trying to make a living, buy a home and try to be the best at what I  believed myself to be.

I read somewhere (I think it was in Conversations with God by Neal Donald Walsch) that ideally an 8 hour working day should be devided in 4 hours of dedicated work to earn a living, 2 hours of focusing on a hobby, and 2 hours of engaging in activities like garden work, or community service. And should you structure your day around this principal,  it would lead to a reduced stress level, and a higher productive and happy individual. Now that I work for myself I can put this principle into practice and I can testify to its effectiveness!

As you know working for an employer has its positive points, but one of the negatives is that you are a slave to their demands. You work their hours, do what they tell you to do and in my case a lot of my personal income and time was redirected back into my career, leaving me gridlocked in all things hairdressing, in stead of having any time or resources to persue my love for art.

"Beautiful blooms" Day 11 WWCM

It wasn't until I took a leap of faith last year that I  started to enjoy my hairdressing career in a whole new way... by creating the lifestyle that I  dreamed about... One that allows me to be sustainable in my hairdressing and finances, but also one that allows me time to explore and develop my art, as well as my interest in psychology. Working for yourself has the percs of setting up your day to day schedule to include the activities that otherwise would be neglected.

"Primary colours " Day 3 WWCM

Albeit it is more stressful to be self employed, because clients does not always cooperate and support my vision the way that I had hoped. It remains rewarding, because I can do so much more with my time. Letting go of any expectations from clients has served as a learning curve that only strengthened my resolve to make my goals and dreams become a reality. And according to the law of attraction,  life has no other way of manifesting, other than offering me the opportunities to make my dreams come true, because it is my deepest desire. My choices and daily actions help to shape and create my reality.

"Simple things" Day 6 WWCM

"Flying things" Day 8 WWCM

So, my goal with my art besides getting better at it? It would be nice to sell my art, and w
I'll get to that, but above and beyond being an artist, I  want my art to touch hearts and enlighten souls... this is where my art skills can help others through my art therapy program that I am busy developing. As I continue my studies in the field of psycology and art therapy, it is my intention to grow in my skills to become a certified art therapist with a logotherapeutic approach. This is my true-north in my current journey as an artist and counsellor.

"Shades of blue" Day 5 WWCM

"Climbing mountains " Day 9 WWCM

I am planning to start a greeting card series soon, and you will be able to purchase these greeting cards at my salon for your perusal. This way my art can be supported and the sales from these greeting cards will help me to purchase more art supplies I need in order to keep developing and growing in my craft.

"Light & luminous" Day 10 WWCM

"Forest animals" Day 12 WWCM

So, if you like what I am doing in my personal development,  and would like to support me in my art endeavours,  please feel free to become a patron by giving any donation towards purchasing art supplies, or sponsoring me to enroll in workshops with art teachers here and on-line.

"Fast and loose" Day 13 WWCM

"Sweet treats" Day 14 WWCM

You can support me with a money donation, or by purchasing a gift voucher from Jimnettes (if you live in Pretoria), or you can look at my wish list on Amazon.com or Art Saver.co.za

As you might know, art supplies are very expensive and the best way to develop any skill is by practicing. So a gift voucher from Art Saver will go a long way towards achieving this goal. If you feel inclined to support me in this way, you can do so by visiting Art Saver and purchasing a gift card on their website. You can find them here: Gift voucher

I also have a wish list on Amazon, simply use this link to have a look at my wish list, and if Amazon is your thing, feel free to support me there!
